Working with YUI

As Jane recently wrote, we spent an evening together with YUI. From a developer point of view I would say that it is a very mature piece of work. The API is well documented and as a developer you can work with it in almost the same way that you do with server side frameworks.

If you plug in the JSEclipse plug into your Eclipse you get full content assistance for YUI in the same way that you get for Prototype so you don’t need to read everything from the API docs.

After using Prototypes utilities like setting up XHR communication, managing events and elements, it takes a while to switch to YUI’s equivalents, not because they are inferior but because you are used to do it with Prototype.
